The Ateneo Special Education Society, or Ateneo SPEED, is an organization that advocates for an inclusive society that provides persons with special needs (PWSNs) access to quality special education and embraces their value as human beings.
As an organization that seeks to empower the special needs sector, we collaborate with different institutions for the development of their special education programs towards self-sustainability. Every week, we go to our partner institutions and interact with PWSNs, doing different activities such as arts and crafts, baking, playing sports, and making music. We also organize projects such as a talent show, a prom, and a disability awareness week that promotes the involvement of the community inside and outside the Ateneo in advocating for persons with special needs.
Here in Ateneo SPEED, we make a difference for the different, and in return, let them make a difference in us.

SPEED Disability Awareness Week
Our flagship project, where we raise awareness on the different issues of the PWSN sector through various efforts within the Ateneo. In the past, SPEED Week has provided avenues for PWSNs to work in the Ateneo, for Ateneans to pledge not to use derogatory terms and for more people to get involved in our other upcoming projects.
A Special Cafe
A Special Cafe, one of our newest projects, is geared towards showcasing the abilities and advocating for the employment of PWSNs. Partnered with Puzzle cafe, a restaurant that exclusively hires PWSN servers, A Special Cafe is a pop-up coffee shop inside the Ateneo.
Weekly Area Visits
Every week, we visit our partner SPED institutions and do different activities, such as arts and crafts, baking, playing sports, and many more! We do this so that the students in our areas develop their fine motor and socialization skills.
